About Janet Golder Kngwarreye
Janet Golder Kngwarreye, the daughter of Margaret Golder and Sammy Pitjara, was born on November 15, 1973. Janet is an Anmatyerre woman from Central Australia's Utopia region. She grew up in the Utopia region's Mulga Bore, surrounded by her family and clan. Utopia is known for supporting and developing very brilliant Aboriginal artists, such as Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Janet's grandfather is Old Henry Pitjara, and her grandmothers are well-known artists Angelina Ngale and Polly Ngale.
Janet has participated in several abroad group exhibitions as a result of her work with several Australian art galleries, and some of her work is part of the Mbantua Gallery's permanent collection.
Design Inspiration
Janet is an outstanding artist in her own right and her designs primarily represent "Awelye," or ceremonial body paint, with delicate dot work and linear designs.
Her paintings are vibrant and imaginative, bringing her own unique perspective to these Dreamtime tales that have been popularised by Utopian artists since the 1980s during the Utopian art movement.
