Indigenous artists are able to pay homage to the Anaty and urge its continued renewal by representing it in their artwork. Jeannie's work is distinctive and instantly recognisable. Tanya was raised in an artistic family, with Ada's sisters Gloria, Kathleen, Jeannie, and Rosemary being well-known aboriginal artists. Tanya's grandmother was a traditional elderly woman who was part of the women Utopian artists who began painting on batik and subsequently progressed to acrylic painting. Her grandmother taught young women about their predecessors' customs, hoping that future generations would carry on the tradition. Design Inspiration Tanya started painting while she was a youngster, and she was extremely close to Ada, who had a big influence on her. Tanya began painting in monotone colours in 2010 to depict her own authentic style. Featuring in Tanya’s designs is the bush plum which is a shrub that grows in the Central Desert. It produces little white blooms and small purple to blackberries that are edible when fully mature but toxic if eaten before they are fully ripe. The women of Utopia harvest the fruit and perform Ceremonies to ensure that the fruit germinates and produces plenty of fruit for the following season. Joy transitioned from batik to canvas painting in 1999. Her stories about the Pencil Yam and women's ceremonial Dreaming stories have made her famous. Decorate Me Certificate of Authenticity Guarantee 3 day money-back guarantee Free Shipping within Australia  *Painting is currently stretched and will be unpicked and sent rolled.* Please note that the paintings' colours vary in different lighting and the pictures displayed are photos of the painting. About Walala Tjpaltjarri Tjapaltjarri was born in the late 1960s or early 1970s. He was born in Malua near Lake Mackay. He grew up in the desert in a traditional nomadic lifestyle. His family had no exposure to modern European and Australian society. Walala's family are well-known as the last Aboriginal people living a traditional nomadic life in Australia. Walala started painting in December 1987, a few years after settling in Kiwirrkurra. He was introduced to painting by his cousin Warlimpirrnga. Walala joined the Papunya Tula artists and Thomas and Warlimpirnga and eventually achieved international fame as his Tjapaltjarri brothers.  Tjapaltjarri's early work was in the flowing "dot" style of painting typical of the Papunya Tula artists in the Northern Territory. His style became different during the late 1990s, and began to paint rigid rectangles, replacing dotted lines with thick, solid lines. In 1997, Walala has his first exhibition for the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award in the Northern Territory.  His work has featured in my famous Aboriginal Artist collections in Australia, Europe and the United States. Tjapaltjarri paints the most out of the three Tjapaltjarri brothers and when painting regularly, he earns up to AU$2000 a day.
